Mum Funeral speech - Manish Budhdeo

Created by amisha28 5 years ago

I thank you all for coming today to pay your last respects to our mum. She passed away peacefully on Thursday 24th May with a smile on her face.

Content that she had fulfilled all her earthly obligations.

Content that she leaves behind a beautiful community of friends and family

Content also that she can rejoin her soul mate, “Vinodbhai”, whose name was on her lips with her last breath.  Exactly 3 months from when he left us on a cold, wintery day on 24th February.

Thank you for taking part in paying homage to our mum - Our queen bee – who showered us with such love. Through her attentive and inquisitive nature, she created human bonds

- Bonds filled with tenderness, compassion and concern – and through these dialogues and interactions she gained our love and affection.

- our heartwarming trust.

I have much to learn from the gratitude and respect she allocated to each and every soul she encountered. She had such grace, elegance and poise in all that she undertook.

She was our queen Bee!

Our mum was a mother to many!

In her hive, she helped many of us young ones to navigate through life with all its many contrasting and contradictory viewpoints. She was able to marry the old world of heritage and rituals with modern day realities – through pragmatic adaptations. This agility was a constant in our lives as she traversed continents of Asia, Africa and Europe as well as the cultures they encompassed.

She was able to cut through rituals, ensuring we kept and guarded the essence – thereby, helping us all on our spiritual journeys. She encouraged us to adapt, evolve and grow in our changing environments and through our life stages. She inspired us to find meaning in our lives – to be comfortable with our surroundings by identifying the “good” within them.

Our mum had a dynamic presence and great social skills. She loved being surrounded by her friends – hosting parties in Mombasa, London and Malindi. She had never ending charisma that drew people to her – even till her very end here in Leicester!

I am truly blessed to have been born to and brought up by such a warm, loving, caring mother. Her endurance, underlying hope and generosity of spirit helped to sweeten our lives.

Let us celebrate and pray for her soul and the legacy she left behind.
